Suceava Day 2 - Creating the logo and slogan
The second day of the learning activity was marked by work - team spirit. After initial instruction in English language, the pupils were divided into five mixed teams. Each team consisted of representatives of all three partner schools - Italy, Romania and Slovakia. Linguistic and cultural diversity brought many exciting moments and initiatives to enhance mutual understanding. Cooperative
work on logos and slogans enabled pupils to develop communication and
social skills. In addition, working with effective and user friendly
software for creating logos and slogans contributed to the development
of computer skills.
Numerous
debates during the initial presentation revealed the important role of
the logo and slogan that describes the object and purpose of the product
in a best possible way. The teams used a brainstorming method to choose the best proposals, which were later processed in the final form of the logo. The second part was dedicated to finding a slogan that would match the logo and the intent it represents. All works contained ideas of friendship, cooperation and united Europe. During the feedback, this idea resonated most among all team members. Due to cooperation, they realized the need for togetherness, human kindness, tolerance and understanding.
Visiting the museum (museum of traditional village), fortress and orthodox monastery
In the afternoon, after completing our tasks we visited cultural and historical monuments of Suceava. The pupils of the host school, who are students of the Tourism Course, accompanied their new friends throughout the traditional village. Here we learned many interesting facts about traditional life in different parts of Romania. The museum is thematically arranged to follow a man from his birth to death. We were all surprised by how much we have in common. We discussed the history, traditions and customs peculiar for our countries.
Later, we moved to a renovated fortress with spectacular views of the city. We were impressed by interactive expositions in the magnificent halls of the fortress. Since all the texts are in Romanian, our friends from Suceava willingly undertook the task to translate and explain the particularly enlightening and interesting facts of the region. At the end of the day we visited an orthodox monastery on the list of cultural and historical monuments UNESCO. What were the impressions and feelings of all the participants in the learning activity? During informal talks to each other, they reflected positively on the overall atmosphere of the project, the possibility of using English language in other than in a traditional school environment and also possible future opportunities as a result of participation in the project.
